Holly's February 2010 Newsletter

Okay, so it's not exactly the New Year anymore, but it is the first time I've sent a newsletter out since last year, so just indulge me! I hope you all have a lovely holiday season, and that you're still sticking to your resolutions. I gave up resolutions a few years back and now just pick a word of the year and try to center my year around it. This year's word? Optimism! I toyed with hope as my word, but optimism seemed more...well, optimistic. The belief that things will be good, rather than just hoping that they will!

I'm starting the year off with what I hope you'll find a very special book. As a matter of face, its working title was, A Special Kind of Different. But you'll see it on the shelves in February as:

A One-of-a-Kind Family
by Holly Jacobs

ISBN # 978-0373716159
Harlequin SuperRomance, 2/10

She’s kind of special…

Anna Chapel believes in people. She believes in helping them lead exceptional lives. Now the dedicated life coach wants to do that for different, yet special Colm Franklin. If Colm’s breath-stopping, over-protective brother Liam will let her.

But the guilt-ridden computer programmer refuses to believe, to dream. Or could it be he simply needs to learn how? Anna’s biggest challenge may be ahead: can one woman with a head full of wayward curls and a smile a mile long convince Liam they have a fighting chance? That, together, they can overcome anything to create a family that’s truly one of a kind?

This book is set in Whedon, PA again. There are a few minor cameo appearances by characters from November's Unexpected Gifts! Speaking of which, thank you everyone who sent me an email or letter about the book! I so appreciate it.

And thanks as well to everyone who asked their library to order December's, Everything But a Christmas Eve. Rumor has it, it's selling very well! If you haven't asked your library to order a copy, I'd really appreciate it if you did. The publisher, Avalon's, primary market is libraries and they notice when there's a spike in the orders!

One of the first books I sold was This Old Heart. I still remember the days Hilary Sares called to tell me Kensington's Precious Gems was buying it. I was so excited! Now, Precious Gems were only sold at WalMarts, and when it was gone, it was gone. I've heard from a lot of you that you've looked for it and can't find it. So, when I was offered the opportunity to sell it as an eBook A Writers Work, I jumped at it.

I debated updating the story (I mention a quarter for a phone call!), but opted to let it stand on its own. I rarely reread my work, and as I did, I kept thinking, If I were writing this now... But I opted to leave the writing stand on its own, too. If nothing else, it shows how far my writing has come in the last decade.

Jennifer McLean at So Write Designs did the new cover. The original one was done by Pino and still hangs in my office.

NEWS:

I was quoted in USA Today 12/9/2009!!! They did a piece on the Washington party crashers, and sought me out because of my book, Confessions of a Party Crasher. My geek glee overflowed!

And my biggest news...I've sold two more SuperRomances. For those who've asked, they are indeed Seth and Tucker's stories, but no, the two aren't a couple. I have some very special people in mind for them! Their working titles are Somebody Else's Baby, and A Father's Name. I'll keep you posted!

Finally, I have some speaking engagements and signings coming up:

February 13, 1-3: Borders, Erie, PA talk and signing...
"Simply Erie-sistible...The State of Love in Western PA."

March 4-7: Epic Conference, Keynote speech, New Orleans, LA

March 27: Western Reserve Writers' Conference, "CONFESSIONS OF SERIES KILLERS: A ROMANCE...How to survive writing bumps in the road" and "The Scoop on Agents"

August 17, 7pm: Greater Detroit RWA, "High Concepts"

Interested in a speaker?

That's all for now! I hope you all have a fantastic 2010! And ask always, thank you for your continued support!

Feel free to come friend me on Facebook, otherwise, I’ll talk to you all soon!!
